Daily Flights: Tampa’s Direct Route to Germany Now Available Every Day

Tampa's nonstop service to Germany

Discover Airlines has boosted the frequency of its Tampa to Frankfurt, Germany, route from five times per week to daily.

This strategic move reflects the airline’s strong belief in the Tampa market, reaffirming its commitment less than three years after reintroducing the nonstop route in December 2021. Since then, over 270,000 passengers have flown this route, according to company statements.

Discover Airlines, a subsidiary of the Germany-based Lufthansa Group, initially inaugurated nonstop flights from Tampa International Airport to Frankfurt Airport in 2015. However, the pandemic halted operations in April 2020. In September 2023, Lufthansa rebranded Eurowings Discover as Discover Airlines to distinguish it from Eurowings, which focuses on low-cost, short-haul routes in Europe, unlike Discover’s transatlantic flights. Notably, all Lufthansa airlines reported profitability in 2023 with a 15% increase in revenue.

With a fleet of 26 aircraft, Discover Airlines serves over 60 destinations and plans to expand its network as it adds two more Airbus planes, bringing the total to 28. Besides Tampa to Frankfurt, other US destinations served include Orlando, Fort Myers, Anchorage, Las Vegas, and Philadelphia.

For travelers, round-trip fares from Tampa to Frankfurt start at $775, with most tickets priced in the four-figure range, especially during peak travel times like summer.

In another development, Edelweiss Air has recently doubled its service from Tampa to Zurich, increasing from two to four flights per week. However, the online departure schedule indicates a reduction to three weekly flights come September.
