Boom by the Bay, Tampa’s premier Independence Day celebration, is set to return to Julian B. Lane Riverfront Park for 2024. This year’s event on July 4 promises a spectacular array of festivities across three prime locations.

“There’s nothing like celebrating America’s birthday in America’s greatest city,” said Tampa Mayor Jane Castor. “This is a chance to celebrate our freedom by having a blast with our friends and family. We want people to come, enjoy themselves along the river all day, and wrap up with a huge smile, watching those fireworks boom overhead.”

In addition to the main event at Julian B. Lane Park, attendees can catch fireworks at the Star-Spangled Sparkman event at Sparkman Wharf and the Heights District Fourth of July Celebration at Armature Works. Notably, fireworks will not be displayed off Bayshore Boulevard this year.

Shaun Drinkard, Interim President of the Tampa Downtown Partnership, highlighted the expanding nature of the celebrations: “As people keep coming back to Tampa’s Downtown for a fantastic 4th of July, our different neighborhoods are expanding their celebrations. That gives folks the best of everything: the top entertainment and activities, the most food options, and brand-new experiences people have never seen before like the Apple Pie Throwdown.”

New this year is the Apple Pie Throwdown, where vendors will compete to create unique twists on the classic American dessert. Visitors can purchase a tasting pass to sample these innovative treats. Additionally, the popular pickleball tournament returns for its second year, with duo registration available for $55 on the tournament’s website.

Event times are as follows: Boom by the Bay starts at 4 p.m., Star-Spangled Sparkman at Sparkman Wharf runs from 4:00 to 9:30 p.m., and the Heights District Fourth of July Celebration at Armature Works runs from 3:00 to 10:00 p.m.

This year’s Boom by the Bay promises to be a day full of fun, food, and fireworks, embodying the spirit of Independence Day in Tampa.
