Tampa Theatre Offers Free Movie Weekend in July

Tampa Theatre, the nearly 100-year-old movie palace at 711 N Franklin St, will be hosting free movies for all Tampa residents on July 6 and 7, courtesy of Pluto TV. This event is part of Pluto TV’s Summer of Cinema campaign, which supports independent and family-run theaters across the country.

During this free movie weekend, Tampa Theatre will showcase several beloved classics, including Wizard of Oz and The Godfather II. You can reserve your free movie tickets on Tampa Theatre’s website. This summer, the iconic movie palace is presenting a variety of classic films, creating a nostalgic cinematic experience for all.

  • Kinds of Kindness in the Microcinema (4 screenings)
  • Apollo 13 in the historic hall (1 screening)

If you haven’t visited yet, Tampa Theatre’s new microcinema is a must-see. This 43-seat screening room, located under Tampa Theatre’s historic marquee, occupies the former Nature Shop space at 711 North Franklin Street. The design of the 1,200-square-foot room draws inspiration from Tampa Theatre’s original architect, John Eberson, envisioning the type of space he might have built for his personal use. The Taylor Screening Room’s decor incorporates colors, textures, and details from Eberson’s 1926 plans for Tampa Theatre, complemented by modern touches that honor both Eberson’s architectural career and his personal family collection of art and photos.
