Tampa police arrested a man accused of murdering

Tampa police have arrested a man accused of murdering a victim behind a Wendy’s on Hillsborough Avenue earlier this month.

Eddy Caron, 57, stabbed a 52-year-old man to death on June 12 near the intersection of North 15th Street and Hillsborough Avenue, according to a release from the Tampa Police Department.

A witness in the Wendy’s parking lot told police they saw the victim and suspect shortly before the incident. Detectives said security footage showed Caron entering a nearby convenience store, buying a beer and walking to a fenced-in area behind the Wendy’s.

The victim was found dead behind the restaurant, according to TPD. Another witness reportedly told police that Caron left the area on a “distinctive” bicycle with deer antlers attached to the handlebars.

Police said a beer can with Caron’s DNA linked him to a previous incident, and his backpack and bicycle matched what was captured on security cameras and described by witnesses.

“We hope that this arrest will provide some closure for the family of the victim,” Tampa Police Chief Lee Bercaw said in a statement. “This successful investigation is a testament to the outstanding work of our detectives who pieced together the evidence, identified the suspect, and quickly took him into custody.”

Caron was arrested Saturday and charged with first-degree murder.
